How can I lose weight. Been taking Reductil and have PCOS..

Hi I have lost loads of weight recently by going on Reductil.. However for last two months have maintained, despite following low cal programme, about 1100 cals a day. What more can I do to shift last stone? I play competitive badminton twice a week, drink loads of water, walk for an hour or so each day, eat very healthily. Should I be seeking some other form of medication from my doctor? I know PCOS makes it hard to lose weight, but this is ridiculous!

PS am also on thyromine for underactive thyroid and Dianette for PCOS symptom control. I just want to lose the weight around my stomach now which I am all too aware is hardest bit to do for PCOS sufferer!
Many thanks
Laura

hi Laura

It?s a tough one when you have a medical condition that ?s going to make your weight loss harder. You could go back to see your doctor, but with so little weight now to lose I can?t imagine further medication is something he or she will be likely to pursue. The good news is that as you get lighter the PCOS is likely to be less of a problem as your hormones should be starting to be less of a hindrance, All this adjustment can take time, so it's worth hanging on in there and beng as patient as you can, Calorie-wise you are doing the best you can, and it sounds like you are admirably active too. The only thing I can think to add is some resistance exercise (weight lifting for example) which can build metabolically active tissue (muscle) which in turn burns more calories. Though it's all so frustrating, try not to lose patience - you should get there in the end!
