How many calories for using motorcise machines?

Hiya, I've just joined one of these motorcise type gym things as I have severe osteoarthritis and struggle to do certain types of exercise, it seems ok but I don't really seem to be doing much at the moment. Do you have any ideas how many calories a 30 minute session such as this might burn please?

Our expert says...

Hi,

The motorcise machines you are using are multi-functional and designed to work several different parts of the body at the same time. The system of spending 2.5 minutes on each machine and then the relaxer chair at the end means you gain enhanced circulation, tone and relaxation.

However, because these are designed to accommodate even the frailest and elderly individual, the effort level is restricted by what you are capable of putting into it and emphasis is placed on mobility and suppleness then on burning a high amount of calories.

For a 30 minute session you could go with an approximate figure of 80-90 calories.

Hope this helps,

Kelly
