How many calories in Day and Night Nurse?

I've just had my first cold in over two years and have taken both Day Nurse and Night Nurse. I have no idea of the calorie content of these medicines and am wondering if taking these medicines can affect weight loss?

Our expert says...

Hi

Thanks for your query. It prompted me to check the ingredients and I’ve found that Night Nurse liquid has 13.1g carbohydrates per 20ml dose and also contains 3.6ml ethanol (alcohol) per dose. If my maths is correct, this works out at around 72 calories per dose so it’s not insignificant.

I could find less information about Day Nurse liquid, but knowing it has 1.5ml alcohol per dose (don’t worry that’s very tiny!) and assuming its sugar content is about the same as Night Nurse that works out at around 87 cals per 30ml dose.

Considering you don’t take these medications for long, I wouldn’t worry too much, but perhaps for future reference the capsule version (without the need for a sweet taste, which means calories)  might be better.
