I am diabetic and have tried to cut out all sugars but someone has told me I have to have so much sugar a day even if it is by way of natural fruits how many grams per day is correct??? Many thanks -Mally
Generally speaking there?s very little difference between a healthy diet for someone with diabetes than for someone who hasn?t got this condition. And yes including some carbohydrate in your diet (which can be partly be made up of sugars) is important if you are diabetic, as is eating frut and veg. However I'm not really in a position to give you any specific idea about how much sugar or carbohydrate you should have, as this should be the sort of information you should be given on a personalised basis when you have diabetes. If you haven't already been given a referral to a dietitian you should ask your GP for one and get some detailed advice. Good luck!
