How should I log my swimming for the most accuracy?

Hi Kelly, I swim regularly but when logging my exercise I don't know which calorie expenditure to choose. At the moment I log it as swimming leisurely which records a 443 calorie burn per hour, I do this as the swimming breastroke setting seems a little high as that records a calorie burn of 739 per hour. I actually swim 3/4 mile in 45 minutes or 1 mile in 1 hour (breaststroke), I do not want to log too high but neither do I want to sell myself short on my efforts Hope you can help. Thank You, Angela

Hi Angela,

I would agree with your choice of ‘swimming leisurely’ for your calorie burn figure as this accounts for a greater range of swimming effort so is likely to be more accurate and prevent a false economy in terms of calorie balance. If you feel a given swim is of a particularly high effort/intensity you could manually input your calorie burning figure to closer to 500 calories per hour.

Hope this helps,

Kelly
