Your start weight, current weight and how long it took.

18st 2lbs254lbs115kg start weight and now around 11st 5lbs159lbs72kg. It took me 15 months to hit my healthy BMI.

What prompted your decision to lose weight?

A mix of having two young children and a minor health worry. Combined, I didn't want to be the way I was and knew I needed to do something about it.

How did you hear about Nutracheck?

My wife had used it. I signed up so I could clearly see what and how I was eating, as my food habits had to change immediately.

Has your weight stayed fairly consistent over the years, or have you always had to manage it?

It has been about 15 years since I was in good shape. I had steadily been getting bigger and heavier, and then I was at my biggest of 18st 2lbs254lbs115kg, and 39% BMI, as I am not that tall.

Have you experienced any health improvements?

The minor bowel issue (suspected IBD) completely cleared within a few months of eating well. The biggest thing I noticed when I was unhealthy was how many coughs and colds I would get, and how difficult they were getting to fight off. More than once, I needed antibiotics to shift a chest infection.

How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?

Difficult at first, but only because it's such a change and takes a lot of planning and logging. Then you realise how easy it is to eat right. It's not difficult anymore.

What was the most difficult thing about your weight loss journey?

The consistency of maintaining the journey. Having a good day or good week is one thing, but doing it relentlessly for 15 months is tough. Worth it though.

How do you feel now compared to before?

I feel great. I eat well, I have never exercised so much, and I am back playing football at 40 after a 17-year hiatus. I feel amazing compared to how I did.

Any notable milestones to report?

Hitting my healthy BMI, which meant over 35% weight loss logged with MAN v FAT, was a big target for me.

What 3 tips would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?

  1. Get your head around the fact that only one thing causes weight loss. A calorie deficit. These diet fads all lead to that one thing, and you don't need to do them.
  2. Use a TDEE calculator to work out what calorie intake you need to create a manageable and sustainable calorie deficit. Be consistent with a little loss week on week.
  3. Steps. If you have a physical job, then great, and if not, get your daily steps up. I physically couldn't run at the start of my journey, so I would do 2-3 evening walks, and now, 15 months later, I tend to run a 10k each week.
