Every member's story is individual and may involve a combination of approaches. Dawn's story showcases weight loss success using Nutracheck alongside weight loss injections.

What was your start weight, your current weight, how much weight have you lost, and how long did it take?

I started at 19st 7lbs273lbs123.8kg and I’m now 12st 7lbs175lbs79.4kg, so I’ve lost 7st98lbs44.4kg. I’ve also lost 14 inches from my waist. I started on 5th July last year, so it has taken me 9 months.

Was there something that prompted your decision to lose weight?

The reason I started was because of my health. I’ve been diabetic for years and have always been a bigger girl, but after having my children my weight slowly piled on and my diabetes became very hard to control. After speaking with my diabetic nurse, she suggested I try Mounjaro. I started on the lowest dose and completely changed my diet.

I’ve always loved healthy food, but I also enjoyed unhealthy food too. Mounjaro does help with food noise, but I’d say my mindset and Nutracheck have helped even more. Tracking everything I eat makes me think about my choices and encourages me to make small swaps that lead to big differences.

Have you experienced any health improvements?

Since losing the weight, my diabetes is now in remission, so I have the same blood sugar levels as someone who isn’t diabetic. I have so much more energy to run around after the kids, and my skin, hair, and overall wellbeing have improved so much.

How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?

It was tricky at first to fit the changes into my family life, but after a while my whole family started eating healthier with me. Even my sons now ask how many calories are in certain foods! I’ve found logging as I go very easy while I’m cooking, and sometimes I do it beforehand if I’m feeling organised. The gym has now become part of my normal routine.

What was the most challenging aspect of your weight loss journey, and how did you overcome this?

The most challenging part for me is eating out and family occasions. I do sometimes feel like I limit my family on where we can go because of my diet, but I’ve learned to allow myself the odd treat—whatever I fancy—as long as it’s not every day, and that really motivates me. In fact, I went on holiday and didn’t even think about food for a week, and it hardly made a difference to my weight.

How do you feel since losing the weight, compared to before?

Since losing weight, I now have the confidence to go to the gym and take part in classes. My clothes fit better, and I can shop anywhere now. It still feels strange buying a size 12/14 instead of a 24/26!

Do you have any non-scale victories you would like to share?

My favourite non-scale victory was going to our favourite theme park and riding the biggest ride - one I previously wouldn’t fit into!

How did you feel the app supported you - were there any specific features you found helpful?

The app has honestly been the biggest help on my journey. I love how it remembers your food items, so it’s really quick to use (I’m a creature of habit and eat a lot of the same meals). I also love that I can log a meal that might be a treat and put me over my calories for the day, then switch to my weekly view and realise I’m still well within my target - so I don’t feel guilty.

I also enjoy chatting with other users and have found everyone to be so friendly and helpful.

What does weight maintenance look like for you now?

Maintaining my weight now feels quite relaxed. I’ve decided that as long as I stay within half a stone above or below 12 stone, that’s my new "normal" I’ll continue doing what I’ve been doing and keep logging everything.

What advice would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?

My best advice would be to track everything, even if it’s not healthy, as weight loss really has its ups and downs. I’ve learned that in order to maintain my weight, I need to live a normal life where I can enjoy what I want in moderation. The app isn’t just a diet for me; it’s a tool for life.

Another thing I’d say is don’t give up if your progress stalls for a while. I had a few periods where I didn’t lose anything for 4–5 weeks, but I just kept going and my body eventually caught up.

Weight loss injections are a prescribed medication and should only be used with the guidance of a medical professional. If you are considering this route, speak with your doctor or pharmacist. As per NiCE guidelines, injections should be used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and exercise. Our goal is to provide a simple and effective app that empowers members to achieve their goals in a way that works best for them.
