How much weight have you lost and how long did it take?

I've lost 4st 7lbs63lbs28.5kg. I'm 5'10" and started my weight loss journey on 9th May 2018 weighing 16st 9lbs233lbs105.6kg. I'm now 12st 2lbs170lbs77.1kg which I reached on 17th May 2019. I was a size 18/20 and now I'm a size 12/14. I was delighted to have recently bought size 12 skinny jeans.

What prompted your decision to lose weight?

Having slowly gained weight since my teens and started and failed with many diets in the past, I was at my heaviest ever at 16st 9lbs233lbs105.6kg and my eating was out of control. There were a few reasons that prompted the start of this diet.

I had a family wedding coming up and had bought a dress in a size 18 that I thought would look better if I lost a few pounds.

More importantly, I was just about to turn 46 and my father had died of a heart attack at 47 and that was weighing heavily on my mind as I also had raised cholesterol and high blood pressure. I didn't want to be too heavy for people to carry my coffin!

How did you hear about Nutracheck?

Although I've tried many diets in the past, I've always resisted paying money to do so (through slimming clubs) as I knew the bottom line was to eat less and move more, but that was easier said than done!

Being a fairly technical person, I wondered if there was a more modern way of losing weight. So I just looked on the App Store and came upon Nutracheck. The reviews were great and I loved the success stories. I tried the free trial for just 3 days before buying it for a year.

How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?

I found it really easy. It helped that I started my diet in May so the weather was right for salads, which I love! I weighed everything and inputted them into the app, even spring onions, much to the amusement of my family! Slowly I learned what a correct portion size looked like and it became second nature. I'm naturally a 'snacker' (especially in the evening) so I found lots of sweet treats that were around 100 calories and always tried to save calories for 1 or 2 of those each evening.

Any notable milestones to report?

I started my Nutracheck diet on 9th May 2018 and the big family wedding was September 15th 2018. The dress I'd bought in the May, which prompted the diet, was too big by the time of the wedding and I ended up buying it in a size 16 which felt amazing.

What 3 tips would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?

  1. Weigh everything and input them into the app. You have to be honest with yourself and face up to your bad habits.
  2. Allow yourself treats (within your calorie allowance) and occasional nights out. This has to be a new way of life (not just a short term diet) so it has to be something you can maintain long term.
  3. Don't be tempted to eat your exercise calories back, unless you're very active and need to do so. I was happy knowing I had them in reserve for those occasions when I went over my calories.
