How much weight have you lost and how long did it take?

When I started I was 15st 10lbs220lbs99.7kg, now I'm 11st 3lbs157lbs71.2kg, which is a loss of 4st 7lbs63lbs28.5kg over 8 months.

What prompted your decision to lose weight?

I had been unhappy with my weight for some time, but when I started getting out of breath doing up my shoelaces something had to change! So my wife suggested we join Weight Watchers.

How did you hear about Nutracheck?

After two weeks on Weight Watchers, we were left thoroughly confused about what to eat or not eat! So my wife found out about Nutracheck on the App Store and decided to give it a go!

Has your weight stayed fairly consistent over the years, or have you always had to manage it?

I have always been overweight and have gone on a few diets. However, I've never lost more than a few stones and always put it straight back on. I never had a system for a balanced diet, so once the diet had finished, I would go back to my old way of eating.

How easy was it to fit the changes you made into your lifestyle?

The thing for me was I found Nutracheck so easy to understand. Once I had entered my stats (height, weight, targets etc.) I had specific daily limits to work with. What was important for me was that I could buy food from any shop on the go, I just had to check the label or scan it! The fact it was so simple made it easier to make a few changes.

What was the most difficult thing?

The first week was the hardest for me. Also, it sounds a bit corny but you need to be honest with your food diary! I followed the targets and the weight just dropped off. If I had a few "fat" days I could really see the weight go back on, it made me understand that it really can be that simple. You are what you eat!

How do you feel now compared to before?

I don't feel bloated anymore. I have more energy and generally feel better about myself. I don't get out of breath anymore and I have no problems doing up my shoelaces!

Any notable milestones to report?

Christmas was right in the middle of my weight loss journey. I thought things could go really wrong! I was wrong, I may not have lost over Christmas but I also did not gain. I just didn't go crazy and let myself have a few off days for meals out etc.

What 3 tips would you give to anyone who has weight to lose?

  1. Think long game! Losing 2 pounds a week seems really slow, but just start working it out over a month or three months and you can plan your journey. How long did it take to put the weight on!
  2. Cut down on eating out and takeaways – they cost you money and slow you down. If you want a treat buy a really nice ready meal!
  3. I find I eat when I'm bored, so find something to do other than watch TV – go for a walk and have a drink of water!
