Does drinking water after exercise harm your skin?

Hi, Is drinking water after exercising harmful to the skin as I hear? When can I drink water if I exercised? Thanks, Amy

Our expert says...

Hi Amy,

Well I have to say that is a new one on me! I don’t know of any evidence that water harms the skin at any time – after exercise or not – and in fact drinking plenty and thereby keeping cells well hydrated is in fact essential for plump looking, moisturised skin. As far as exercising is concerned, it’s important to be hydrated before hand and to top up with a drink afterwards. You might also need to drink water during your workout if it lasts for more than half an hour, or you feel thirsty.  Hope this helps, but if I’m missing something, let me know!
