How can I cure my sweet tooth without piling on the pounds?

Hi - I have a really sweet tooth and at some point during the day will crave a sugar fix - I used to think it was chocolate but even this does not hit the spot. Can you offer any advice for a small sugary treat that will help me avoid bingeing?

Thanks!!

Hi and thanks for your question.

Do you think a pot of ready-made sugar free jelly might hit the spot because that really would be a low calorie way to satisfy your craving without causing blood sugar ups an downs. If not, other sugary options that at least won't break the calorie bank are low cal hot chocolate drink, a meringue nest, or a small packet of Haribos.

However if you can at all start to wean yourself on to healthier (and slower releasing) options like tea cakes, fruit bread, bananas or even a few squares of 70 per cent cocoa chocolate that would be better.

Good luck!
