What are good options for cinema snacking?

I have planned to take my son to the cinema and we can never resist sweet popcorn, just how bad is it?! If I have figures in front of me I might find it easier to say no and take healthier snacks!

Our expert says...

Thanks for your query! Sweet cinema popcorn has around 400 calories per 100g, but the problem is that a large bucket can be 350g or more and the smallest size isn’t likely to be less than 100-150g, so it’s very easy to eat large amounts of calories if you’re not careful!

The main issue is that you don’t know exactly how much you are eating, though you could ask then to weight it on their pick and mix scales, so at least you’re a little more in control!

On balance though, it might be a better option to take healthy snack, like cut up fruit or some soya nuts, or alternatively some small packets of popcorn that are portion controlled and calorie counted!
