Q.
Are potatoes vegetables?
Hi There, I was wondering why Potatoes were not coming up on my diary as vegetables. Can you answer this conundrum for me please? :)
A.
Our expert says...
Hi
Potatoes don't actually count towards your 5-a-day. This is because they are classified as starchy foods. The same applies to other vegetables such as yams and cassava, however carrots, parsnips, swede and sweet potato do count.
If you have a look on the official 5-a-day website, you will see which products count:

I hope this is useful.
