Q.

Do herbal diet pills work?

E.g. 'Adios' sold in my local drug store... do they actually help you to lose weight?
What about the diet patches and pills? is there anything you can buy to stop you craving food?I am always thinking about food and when my next meal is going to be, I can't go on living like this!!

A.

Our expert says...

Adios is a licensed herbal medicine which means it does have to have a certain level of proof of effectiveness. So it's certainly worth a try, and it's always gives a psychological advantage to feel that you might be taking something that can help. The other herbal supplement that might help is Zotrim. Or a cheaper way is to make sure you are getting 2-3 portions of low fat dairy products a day - there?s emerging evidence that this can help weight loss by increasing the amount of fat you excrete. Most herbal pills and patches have very little evidence going for them at all and are probably just a waste of money.
