Does the supplement CLA work?

I am currently training on my bike a lot (I am aiming to compete in road cycling races next season). I have heard of CLA from a bodybuilder friend. I have read a lot about it and I am wondering if you recommend that supplement and ... does it work (combined with diet and exercise).

Studies on CLA in humans show a tendency for reduced body fat, particularly abdominal fat, as well as beneficial changes in blood fat. The maximum reduction in body fat mass was achieved with a 3.4 g daily dose. However there have also been some concerns, for example that the use of CLA may actually cause insulin resistance, leading to an increased risk for developing diabetes. A study last year conducted in mice by the US Department of Agriculture also raised concerns about how CLA can change the ways certain fatty acids are distributed in organ tissues and possible knock on effects on cardiovascular health and inflammatory diseases. On balance because there sill seem to be question marks as to its safety I?d probably give it a miss. A proper training regime alone should be enough to burn fat and build the muscle you need.
