Q.

What's low enough fat for gallstones?

Hi. I have been told by doctor no fat until my scan for gallstones. Any ideas on what to eat? My target say's 65g of fat a day.

It’s impossible to cut out fat completely and your doctor, really means (I’m sure) to just follow a low fat diet until your scan.

65g, in proportion to the calories you are eating is in fact perfectly healthy  and a low enough fat intake for normal consumption. But for you, during this temporary period, I would try to cut a lot more drastically but not below 25g a day. It might be worth rechecking with your doctor that this is okay, but my advice (whilst not wanting to cut across your doctor) would be definitely to go no lower than this.  I hope this helps!

You can achieve it if you cut out all spread and oils and stick to the leanest meats. Go easy on ready meals and processed foods too, and even the heathier fatty foods. like nuts and avocadoes. just for a while. Try to stick with a little oily fish in your diet though. Good luck!
