Q.

Why am I still constipated?

I drink a minimum of 2L of water in addition to my cuppas. I eat porridge in the morning - usually 2 or more fruit as snacks and I make veg soup with just veg and a stock cube. Occasionally I have rye bread. Then I have a huge stir fry almost every night (1 tsp oil) and loads of veggies. When I'm really hungry I add prawns or 1/3 pkg noodles. My query is why I still get constipated. What else can I do. Oh and I often add a tbsp nuts or linseeds to the porridge. I simply cannot understand it? Help please.

Hi

Thanks for your query. I think you are proof that everyone’s bowels are different! However something I would note is that whilst you are having a fair amount of fruit and veg I don’t see much in the way of whole grains and wheat bran in your diet. You could try swapping porridge for All Bran and using wholewheat noodles or brown rice with your strir fry. Try these additions and hopefully your constipation will improve. Keep me posted if you wish!
