Measuring ice cream - mls or grams?

Hi there Very often on tubs the figures are given in both malls and grams. For 100g the cals seem more than 100mls. But my scales only do grams. But am I correct to weigh it in grams? Thanks

Hi Thanks for your query. You’re right that the grams and mls can be very different depending on how airy the ice cream is. If information is given per 100g, use that and weigh it on your scales. However if you only have mls information, you’re going to need to use a cook’s 15ml measuring spoon, bearing in mind a 15ml measure means a level measure of ice cream, not a heaped one.

I’m sorry this is a bit fiddly, but given there is no one conversion between mls and mg that you can use for all ice creams, I’m afraid it is the only way!
