Real Life Diet Questions Answered

Trying to get my diet sorted - is this ok?

I work away from home for most of the week, and so can't do cooking, but have a microwave. At weekends I tend to cook proper meals for my hard working boyfriend and I to enjoy. Tends to be fresh meat/fish and two veg type cooking...I need to work on my portion control when eating with him, but otherwise I am confident that this is healthy. During the week, I am aiming to have muesli with dried fruit/nuts milk for breakfast, fresh fruit snacks and fresh soups like Glorious/Covent Garden (300g portion) or Innocent Veg pots for lunch and dinner. Does this sound ok? Or is it a bit too 'light'? I'm 27, healthy (except PCOS), and trying to exercise 'properly' 4 times a week (gym/swim/jog) plus 15-30 mins walking a day. Been managing ok for the last couple of weeks. I'd appreciate your help, Steph

Hi Steph

Thanks for your query. From what you say, especially the fact that you’ve managed well these last couple of weeks, it certainly sounds that you’ve found a formula that suits you.

Given the restrictions you have during the week, your diet also seems pretty healthy - as well as being low cal, soup and veg pots are very filling and about the the healthiest microwave food! When you’re choosing the soups and veg pots, just make sure you keep your protein up – pea, lentil, and beany options should help you do this! If you get bored, and with days getting warmer, how about a reduced fat Caesar salad kit to which you could add some cooked chicken?

Remember you can adjust to have a slightly more indulgent weekend and make up for it in the week by changing the handy setting in your food diary that gives you a higher calorie allowance on the days of your choice. Sounds like you’re doing really well though, so well done.
