What should I do if I might have Diverticulitis?

Recently you answered a similar question. I think I may have the same condition, I am waiting for an appointment to ascertain if I have it or not, all my symptoms are the same. I would hate at this point to stop dieting and was wondering if I should continue eating high fibre foods or wait until I have a diagnosis.

Hi

If you can bear not to, I’d recommend that you didn’t make any substantive changes at present to your diet, but to instead keep a detailed diary of your food and symptoms so that you can track any reactions to particular foods that you might be having problems with. It’s also probably best not to make any big changes in the amount of fibre you are eating, except if you are eating lots of fibrous foods or foods that might quite obviously be irritants such as spices, seeds etc, in which case it’s worth avoiding them.
